We Made It

We're here! We have made it to Derby, Kansas. It was quite the drive, needless to say.  What seemed like endless roads out in Missouri and then I-35 is awful! Just really boring- and the speed limit is 75 which is a killer on gas mileage.  Once we got into Wichita to get to the base- Josephine (our GPS)- isn't completely updated and we got lost.  So we decided to find our way to Derby and get to the base from there.  And boy is it easy to do from our place! We stayed on base til Friday when all our things got here.  Tyler really likes the base! Well- more like the Air Force I'm sure.  He's never seen on base lodging as nice as what we stayed in last week.. there's an ATV course on base, paintball.. all sorts of things for him to do!

Our apartment is coming along, slowly but surely. We did a lot Friday.. got the kitchen organized and most of the living room. The only things missing are pictures on the walls! Our office is part way done- there are still some boxes to unpack.  Our clothes are still in their boxes and are chillin' in our walk-in closet.  The packers used SOOO much paper and they just fill up the empty boxes.. and our dumpsters are crazy full! From Friday and then everyone else's trash.  Tyler said we can't open up anymore boxes until the dumpsters are empty.

We haven't ventured into Wichita yet- it's a bit intimidating.  There's this street- Kellogg- there's crazy busy with a ton of exits leaving and entering- it's just scary! But we have to go in sometime.. so maybe tomorrow. I'm on permissive leave through Wednesday- and it's been super nice! We are FINALLY going grocery shopping tomorrow so we don't have to keep eating out- that's getting really old.  Then maybe I can start some baking again and good recipes! We're going to the IMAX theater this Friday to see the Hunger Games!!! Can't wait!!

Finally- my new ward.  It's a cute ward with a lot of young couples with little kids. There weren't a whole lot of people there today- at least not as many as I think are usually there- but it's Spring Break- so I would imagine that's where everyone was.  AND! The Kansas City Temple Open House is next month.  Weekend tickets are out online- but I did some asking around today and there's a group that has reservations and we are more than welcome to join! I'm so glad! I think that's going to be really good with Tyler. I think that this ward is going to be really good for us! I'm excited to see what the Lord has in mind for us!

The Big Day

Tomorrow is the big day! We're moving.. the packers came Wednesday and the movers Thursday.  Let me tell you- that's definitely the way to go! I don't think we will ever move ourselves! Why not take advantage of it, right?

It's been a difficult week.  I broke down last weekend, dinner Monday with Alison, Tanner, Brad, Lainey, and Tyler (G) at Texas Roadhouse, and then just seeing our lives be put into boxes and then a semi.  And then yesterday saying goodbye to the farm and animals.. it's silly- I know- but when you see them everyday since August and then periodically for the last almost 3 years- what else am I supposed to do? It's hard.  It was hard for Tyler too.. everything really sank in for him yesterday when I left. We think that the reason is that the last time we left for home- for college and the Army- we knew it was temporary.. that we were going to be back.  But this time it's different.  We're married now, starting careers, and honestly have no intentions on coming back to live in Illinois. It's going to a difficult week next week too.  We'll be in a completely new city knowing nobody and I'm starting work at the base.  SCARY!!!

I bought mom a webcam yesterday to make it easier for us.  And I ordered her some flowers to be delivered to the bank on Tuesday.  Something that will brighten up her day.  Tomorrow is going to be really hard for both of us.. makes me kinda wish that Tyler and I weren't taking 2 cars. I'm definitely going to need him! I'm glad that he's coming here though before we head off- then we can sleep together tomorrow night at our stopping point, wherever that may be.  And that's something we're both going to need- each other.

Glad that I'm at home this weekend though.  We're going to just sacrament tomorrow morning- Elder Bednar is going to be here. I can't exactly turn down church when one of the 12 apostles is going to be there. OH! I almost forgot! Kansas City is only about 3 hours from Wichita. The Kansas City Temple is having it's open house 7-21 April.. and Tyler wants to go! I'm so excited! I'm hoping that between that visit, home teachers, visiting teachers, a big ward, and military members of the Church- one thing will lead to another :)

Getting Closer and Closer

Okay, okay.  I know- it's been a while.  It seems like a long while.  I know I was supposed to upload pictures from our honeymoon and I haven't done that either.  I don't know when I'm going to do that yet.. maybe when I'm on base in waiting to move in to our apartment.

It's 1 March and we are leaving in 10 days! It's really hard for both mom and I.  It's not the same as going to BYU-I.  I think it's because this time I'm moving- I'm married.  But! She's going to try to come out while Megan is at girl's camp and then maybe again in September to see Lion King (I know- a previous post said Beauty and the Beast).  I'll be back home Labor Day weekend for Alison's wedding.  We're going out to California in November for Jessica's.  We'll see each other quite a few times this year!

There's an update for Tyler's career path.  He decided to not go to tryouts this spring.  It would have been the 17-18th.  He has said that his whole heart just in it right now.  Not to go in 2 1/2 weeks.  So he made up his mind that he's going to switch to the Kansas National Guard and then tryout this fall with either the SF unit in Texas or one of the units in Mississippi.  Dillon Amburgey came to see us Monday too and he offered Tyler an internship with the company he works for.  He works for Ratheon which is a government contracting company.  They do a lot of secretive classified work.  I guess they're starting work with analog radios which would be right up Tyler's alley from his work as a commo guy.  Tyler's not very good with all the programming and coding right now- but if he had to he could learn it.  So that is his Plan B if SF doesn't work out for him.

Movers are going to be here next Wednesday to pack up our house and then loading up the semi Thursday.  We're going to end up staying at David and Linda's for 2 nights or at grandmas.  Since he's not going to tryouts- he has to drill next weekend.  I'll spend the day Saturday here with mom and then head to Wichita on Sunday.

I'm thinking about looking for a teddy bear or something for mom before we leave.  It sounds silly but that's kind of our thing.

Okay- going to try to keep up on this regularly.  Oh! Fitness goals! We've been losing some motivation with this whole Insanity workout.  We need to start up again working out everyday.  We're going to order the next step up; Insanity: Asylum.  And I plan on starting that 1 April as a BeachBody Challenge.  I'm really excited.  I'm going to be in FABULOUS shape for the PT test at tech school! I'm excited to move and have a regular routine and be able to eat healthier.. we'll be able to afford it!
